Queen Elizabeth Shock: Prince Charles 'Already King In Everything' Amid Monarch's Health Issues? Her Majesty Reportedly Not Attending A Memorial Service For Prince Philip

Queen Elizabeth has been raising concerns over her health in the past few months. The mother of Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Prince Andrew shocked everyone when she spent a night in a hospital in October to undergo a series of tests.

With her doctors' advice, Queen Elizabeth was forced to cancel a number of royal engagements, at the time, to focus on her health and recuperation. In February, royal fans panicked again after Buckingham Palace announced that Her Majesty contracted the COVID-19, just days after Prince Charles tested positive for the deadly virus.

Though Queen Elizabeth has finally recovered, her avid followers are still wondering why she has not been as active as she previously was. Palace insiders even said that the future of the British monarch could not be ignored any longer. Keep on reading to know more details.

Queen Elizabeth's Health In Crisis?

Royal watchers are quite anxious that Queen Elizabeth was a no-show at the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. Reports suggested that the monarch's aides decided to cancel her attendance at the said royal event at such late notice that her name was still printed on the order of service.

Sources claimed the decision was made with the comfort of Queen Elizabeth in mind as she recovers from COVID-19 and copes with mobility issues that forced her to use a cane recently. Tipsters added the almost-an-hour trip from Windsor Castle to London would have been "too much" for Prince William and Prince Harry's grandmother, who reportedly has not been able to walk her corgis since September.

Since Queen Elizabeth was a no-show at the time, her office announced Prince Charles would grace the royal event as the guest of honor on her behalf. Aside from the Prince of Wales, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton were also present at the annual service.

An unnamed informant told New Idea:

“You could tell they were just putting on a brave face. They didn’t stop to speak to as many people as usual, and when anyone enquired after the Queen, they gave benign answers. Everyone wants to see her end her reign naturally. But some rather uncomfortable conversations are now being had at a very senior level.”

A second source told the publication that, given the current situation, it is highly unlikely for Queen Elizabeth to attend a memorial service for her late husband, Prince Philip, later this month. However, another insider suggested Her Majesty may have to end up using a wheelchair at that time.

The same tipster shared:

“The bigger question is whether she’ll be physically able to attend her own Platinum Jubilee in June. It’s hoped they’ll at least be able to get her there, and there’s no way she’d want to miss it – but it is a sensitive matter.”

The source furthered that Prince Charles "is already King in all but name, with the way he's been stepping in for his mother recently." Queen Elizabeth has yet to comment on these claims. So, avid followers of Her Majesty should take all these unverified reports lightly until everything is proven true and correct.

Is Queen Elizabeth Attending Prince Philip's Memorial?

Meanwhile, veteran reporter Phil Dampier also talked about Queen Elizabeth's present health condition with The Telegraph.

According to the royal expert, Queen Elizabeth, despite her current health state, would make a "huge effort" to attend the upcoming memorial for the late Prince Philip. Phil Dampier said:

“They will have to make allowances for her - and no one will begrudge it. She’s nearly 96."

British actor Christopher Biggins, during an appearance on GB News, claimed that Queen Elizabeth is now "largely confined to a wheelchair." He added:

“I have heard that the reason she’s not doing a lot of the events that she should be doing and cancelling them is because she is in a wheelchair. She doesn’t want to be seen, she’s very proud. It’s so very sad and I hope she is able to make her anniversary celebrations.”

Most, if not all, royal followers are aware that Queen Elizabeth has canceled a number of appearances at public events in recent times. To get her to the memorial service comfortably, many suggested that she may arrive thru a helicopter instead of using a car to get to the venue.

An unidentified source told The Sun:

“Everything is being looked at to make sure the Queen makes it to Philip’s service. But the most important thing is to make sure she is comfortable. A 15-minute flight is better than an hour in the back of a car. Some days she can walk around easily. Other days she cannot. It varies from day to day.”

Aside from Queen Elizabeth, other royal family members expected to attend the memorial service for Prince Philip include Prince Charles, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, on the other hand, are not expected to grace the event.
