Queen Elizabeth II is going through a lot of things at present. She has health issues, canceled several engagements, and is going through various personal matters. Prince Harry raised eyebrows about his decision to skip his grandfather's memorial service and the palace insiders allegedly disapproved of the way he informed his grandmother about the news.

Queen Elizabeth Learned About Prince Harry Skipping Prince Philip's Memorial Service Just Minutes Before It Was Announced To The World

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokesperson confirmed that they won't be attending the late Duke of Edinburgh's memorial service later this month. They informed the Queen ahead before breaking the news. However, according to Daily Mail's royal editor Rebecca English, palace insiders saw Prince Harry's decision as a "slap in the face to the Queen."

"Within a couple of minutes of announcing that he would not be attending the Duke of Edinburgh’s service of thanksgiving, Harry’s team also announced that he would be attending the Invictus Games in the Hague in April, just a few weeks later," English said on Palace Confidential, per Daily Mail.

She continued, "This has obviously surprised a lot of people… to travel to Europe to go to that, but not to his grandfather’s memorial service has, to use a well-worn phrase, got people’s goat. They feel it is a slap in the face to the Queen and, again, another PR disaster as far as many people in the UK are concerned."

Sunday's Editor at Large Charlotte Griffiths believed that Prince Harry's decision will have profound implications. For her, it could be the Duke of Sussex's last chance to see some of the older relatives. So she felt Prince Harry was "so insensitive and so vitriolic and so pointless."

Prince Harry Not Doing Himself Favor For Skipping Prince Philip's Memorial Service

Ruth Langsford was joined by Carol McGiffin, Linda Robson and Nadia Sawalha on Monday's episode of Loose Women. They discussed Prince Harry's decision to not join the royal family for the upcoming thanksgiving ceremony for Prince Philip and McGiffin didn't hide her dismay over the Duke of Sussex's decision.

" I just don't think there's any excuse for him not to attend [Philip's] memorial," the radio and television broadcaster said.

Langsford defended Prince Harry's concern over his security. However, McGiffin argued that he will be safe because he will be with the royal family who has police protection.

"The whole royal family will be there. Do you think there won't be any form of protection? What makes [Harry] so special? What makes him think there's more of a threat to him if he's there [than] the rest of his family?" McGiffin shared.

She went on and slammed Meghan Markle's husband. McGiffin felt that Prince Harry was making a poor choice for skipping his grandfather's memorial service.

"I'm so bored of him and his excuses. It's not good enough. He's not doing himself any favors at all by not going," she stressed. "It's just going to make him look worse. Everyone says, 'Stop slagging him off,' but what do you expect?"
