Queen Elizabeth II has canceled multiple royal engagements and there are growing concerns about her health after she skipped the Commonwealth Day service. According to royal expert Robert Jobson, the Queen is still very well mentally, but not as fine physically.

Queen Elizabeth The Oldest And Longest-Reigning Monarch Not Physically Fit Sometimes

The 96-year-old British monarch has dedicated her life to the throne since the day she took over the throne. Many wonder about her health because she had been skipping some engagements in the past weeks and the public understands that it could be due to her age. However, her absence in her duties and refusal to abdicate sometimes tore the people.

Royal author Robert Jobson appeared on Royally Us podcast and host Christina Garibaldi asked if the palace is "not usually forthcoming about the Queen’s health." Jobson said that the Queen would not want to appear in a wheelchair and has been seen out using a cane.

The Charles: Our Future King author also addressed the Queen's decision to skip some events.

"At 96, there will be cases where she is hoping to be at events but she can’t be at them - even if she really wants to be at them," he explained as quoted by Express. "She is mentally agile, mentally fit but sometimes physically can’t do the things she wants to do."

He noted that the members of the firm are supportive of Queen Elizabeth II, especially the heir apparent — Prince Charles.

"She is ably supported by other members of the Royal family, but notably by the Prince of Wales," Jobson added.

Should Queen Elizabeth II Abdicate Or Not?

There is a mixed opinion about the Queen abdicating the throne and serving the monarchy until her last breath, which is what she wants. However, some are convinced that it will serve the monarchy better if she passes down the throne to Prince Charles.

"While her view that abdication or bowing out of the job has always been one of horror and extreme distaste, her refusal to even countenance stepping down is going to start severely impacting the monarch," royal commentator Daniela Elser wrote on News.com.au.

She added that the Queen's health issues are already a "huge distraction." Her absence in royal engagements also affects the firm as it gives a "symbolism of a sovereign who is largely invisible and tucked away from view."

Else suggested that the Queen abdicate and pass down the throne to the Prince of Wales. By doing so, it can strengthen the confidence in the next monarch.

For her, passing the crown at this time will be practical and uncanny. Prince Charles' coronation will be a "joy-filled celebration" instead of being "tainted by the sadness of her death."

"If the Queen was to pass the baton, or the Imperial State Crown in fact, to her 73-year-old son, it would start his reign on a totally different note, one of positivity and joy and with him ruling with her blessing – not out of necessity," Elser added. "In this scenario, when Her Majesty did sadly pass away, it would hugely mitigate the upheaval and psychological trauma which her death will trigger in the UK and the Commonwealth," she added.
