Queen Elizabeth II has died aged 96, Buckingham Palace has announced.
A statement published on the Buckingham Palace website said:
"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

The declaration follows a statement sent by Buckingham Palace earlier on Thursday, which stated that the Queen was under medical observation in Balmoral after physicians grew worried for her health.
Her four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, as well as her two grandchildren, Prince William and Prince Harry, accompanied Queen Elizabeth to Balmoral.
The Queen devoted her entire life to royal duties.
She was the first British queen to attain her Platinum Jubilee and passed away barely three months after the June celebrations commemorating her seventieth year on the throne.
Queen Elizabeth was also the world's longest-reigning monarch remaining in power.
