Prince Harry had to ask Queen Elizabeth's permission to marry Meghan Markle in 2018. At the time, he received the royal family's support to be with his wife. So, the couple's wedding took place at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, and it was attended by all the members of the British clan.

Queen Consort Camilla Asked King Charles To Stop Prince Harry From Marrying Meghan Markle?

However, Radar Online has been claiming that Prince Harry and Markle's royal wedding almost didn't push through and that Queen Consort Camilla had a hand in the things that took place back then.

A source claimed that Queen Consort Camilla was the one who encouraged King Charles to confront Prince Harry regarding his relationship with Meghan Markle.

"They had a shocking showdown and Harry lost it," a source claimed.

King Charles' Wife Wouldn't Have Allowed Prince Harry To Wed Meghan Markle if She Was Queen?

The source added that Queen Consort Camilla told her friend that if she was the queen, she wouldn't allow the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to tie the knot. After all, she allegedly thought that Markle was unfit to become a member of the royal family.

However, Prince Harry and Markle's royal wedding still pushed through, and the couple has already been married for four years and counting.

Queen Consort Camilla Struggled To Gain Queen Elizabeth's Support For Many Years?

Meanwhile, Queen Consort Camilla also received a fair share of a bad rep when she first joined the royal family. And multiple sources revealed that she didn't immediately get Queen Elizabeth's approval because she was also a divorcee like Markle.

What's worse is that Queen Consort Camilla reportedly had a hand in King Charles and Princess Diana's divorce. After all, the former's affair with the monarch began while he was still married to Prince William and Prince Harry's mom.

In the book The New Royals, British historian Robert Lacey claimed that King Charles personally asked the queen to be more accommodating of his wife.

"In 1998, when Charles was trying to persuade his mother to be more accommodating of Camilla, the Queen described her as 'that wicked woman.' Those damning words were reported in distress by Prince Charles himself," he wrote (via Business Insider).

The queen seemingly disliked Queen Consort Camilla so much that she decided to skip her and King Charles' wedding in 2005. She didn't also attend her son's 50th birthday party because King Charles named Queen Consort Camilla as his guest of honor.

But after years of service to the queen and years of showing her loyalty to The Firm, Queen Consort Camilla managed to change the queen's feelings toward her.

Months before her death, the queen announced that she wants her daughter-in-law to be styled as Queen Consort and not Princess Consort.
