Producer Hopeful that Lauren Cohan Will be Back for Walking Dead 9

After 108 episodes of The Walking Dead, rumor has it that actress Lauren Cohan (Maggie) will not be coming back for the ninth season of the show. Seeing that Maggie has been such an integral character to the franchise, showrunner Scott Gimple explains that he's had talks with Cohan that would hopefully get her onboard for season nine.

Talking to TV Line, Gimple explains:

"These things do happen in TV. But we're talking… Lauren is an actor who has such intuition and such power. So yeah, hopefully, it all works out."

With the show losing two major characters in the last season, and now Carl set to die, some people think that another major character loss would hurt the show, especially now that ratings for The Walking Dead are getting lower and lower.

I think they'll have to offer Cohan something huge to keep her onboard; be it pay-wise or story-wise. Maggie has become such an important character in The Walking Dead comic, and it would be a shame if the show would just off her like that. Then again, Andrea was a complete badass in the books, but her TV counterpart just ended up being one of the most annoying characters on television.

The Walking Dead 8 returns Feb. 25 on AMC.
