Lauren Cohan Might not be in The Walking Dead 9

AMC's The Walking Dead has been going on since 2010, but eight seasons in, and interest is already starting to decline for the show. Rumor has it that one of the main cast members, Lauren Cohan, might not be coming back for the ninth season.

According to Deadline, Cohan has become one of the most sought out actors in the business, receiving multiple offers for a lot of projects. Cohan was said to have asked or a raise in her salary to compare with her male co-stars (e.g. Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus) which AMC declined—sparking speculation that she could leave the show to find greener pastures. For now, it's said that her pay is still undergoing negotiations.

With Glenn dying in season seven, it would make sense that Maggie would find her exit soon. Though she still may be alive in the comics, the show has been known to drastically deviate from the source material. If she wasn't going to die, I can expect her character to just wander off in the show; then again, that wouldn't be the most climactic ending for Maggie, I imagine.

Cohan's departure from the show is still speculation for now, but with the declining ratings, another main cast member leaving the show could be the final nail in the coffin for The Walking Dead. Season seven alone had three main characters die; how many could season eight take this time around?

The Walking Dead 8 comes back to AMC Feb. 25.
