Princess Diana penned several letters for King Charles. Those confidential letters are currently in auction, according to a report.
Princess Diana's Secret Letters To King Charles Are Being Auctioned
Lay's Auctioneers announced that they are auctioning 32 letters penned by Prince William and Prince Harry's mom. Lay described them as "highly personal letters and cards." The auctioneer added that the letters were "astonishing" and "confidential," New Idea reported.
The letters were sent to the royal's friends Susie and Tarek Kassem in the last two years of her life. However, they didn't want to leave the letters to their children and grandchildren. Instead, they put it into auction "to give other people the opportunity of acquiring 'a memento' of the Princess, and in doing so, support causes that were important to her."
"Susie & Tarek Kassem, as very close friends of Diana, Princess of Wales, have treasured these letters for over 25 years. They reflect the special and loving relationship they had with the most unique women that they had ever know," Lay's said in a statement.
"Now, in 2023, the ownership of these poignant documents is a responsibility that the Kassems do not wish to pass on to their children or grandchildren. They have decided to sell the letters and use proceeds of the sale to support some of the charities that were close to Susie and Diana's hearts."
Lay's added that the Kassems kept some more personal and confidential letters from Princess Diana. However, the letters that are in the auction illustrate the late Princess of Wales' "immensely warm and loving disposition in a charming and delightful manner."
The auctioneer added that some letters were written when she was going through her public heartbreak following her separation from King Charles.
King Charles' Letter Slamming Princess Diana's Ex-Butler Sold In An Auction
One letter from King Charles slamming Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell was sold for nearly $2,500 (£2,000) at London-based Chiswick Auctions. It was a four-page handwritten note that His Majesty wrote in 2002, Mirror reported.
"Bless you for taking the trouble to write as you did in the wake of all the ghastliness that has been going on!" King Charles wrote in the letter. "I find it utterly incredible, as I have done nothing but show people like Paul Burrell every consideration over the years."
"Unfortunately we are now to be treated as mere pawns in a terrifying and ongoing media circulation war where the actual facts are totally disregarded and vast sums of money are offered as bribes to former and current members of staff to exercise their pathetic jealousies and vendettas in public."

In the letter, King Charles mentioned that a member of the staff was offered $6.2 million by a newspaper.
Valentina Borghi, a specialist at Chiswick Auctions, said it was a rare letter because King Charles was so open about his feelings in it. She acknowledged that the public is used to the King's calm version, but he must have been very hurt at the time after learning that some people he thought he could trust were willing to make money by selling private facts about his family.
