Prince William and Kate Middleton made a joint engagement with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the annual Royal Foundation Forum. However, it was the fab four's first and only joint event and it hinted about the major tension between the Cambridges and Sussexes, according to a royal biographer.
Prince William Seemingly Confirmed Tension With Prince Harry And Meghan Markle
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex both attended the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018. While they appeared friendly, there was reportedly a huge hint that there was major tension between the two royal couples.
Royal editor at Vanity Fair Katie Nicholl revisited the time at Channel 5's documentary Funniest Royal Cock-ups. According to her, Prince William's "awkward laugh" gave it all away. The Harry and Meghan author was referring to the "major family feud" between the Cambridges and Sussexes.
Royally US hosts, Christina Garibaldi and Christine Ross discussed Nicholl's comment on the recent episode of their podcast. Both agreed that there was something in the Duke of Cambridge's body language.
"Katie Nicholl, who is royal editor at Vanity Fair, said that Prince William's awkward laugh as the foursome were quizzed on the reported fallout was a key indicator that something was definitely wrong," Gabiraldi said, per Express, while quoting Nicholl, "William's slightly awkward laugh gives it all away."
She continued, "Of course, knowing what we know now about what, at the time, was really going on behind the scenes, this is no family banter. They are sort of digging at each other. There was a major family feud."
She recounted the time when the foursome fathered to talk about mental health for the charity together. They revisited the moment by showing up a clip from the engagement and she agreed that something was going on behind the scene.
"If you really look into it, I guess, you could maybe see hints of tension between the four of them," she said.
"I remember this event and at the time we were all excited to see the four of them together," Ross shared. "You know, you go back and look at it and you're like oh, you can sort of see like awkwardness and tension that maybe we didn't notice at the time. But looking back, you can see those signs."

During the joint engagement, the fab four were still under the same charity — The Royal Foundation. During the interview, they were asked if they had disagreements while working together as a royal family.
"OOOOH YES," Prince William was the first to reply before giving an awkward laugh.
Both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle laughed but didn't say a thing.
"Healthy disagreements," Prince Harry quipped.
Markle placed an arm on her husband while the interviewer asked them if they resolved the last thing they disagreed on.

"Errr…. I can’t remember, they come so thick and fast," Prince Harry said.
The Duchess of Sussex put her hands on her face as she smiled looking embarrassed. "Was it resolved?" Prince Harry asked his older brother.
"I don’t know," Prince William responded.
"Well you’re putting on a great show if it’s not (resolved)," the interviewer quipped.
Prince Harry pointed out that working together with different personalities comes with challenges as they have different opinions, but it works really well for them. "You know, we're stuck together for the rest of our lives," he added.
