Prince William and Kate Middleton dropped their family's Christmas card photo earlier this week. It wasn't as festive as the previous years, according to a body language expert.

Body language expert Judi James weighed in on the Prince and Princess of Wales' new Christmas card photo shared on their social media accounts. For her, it was different as the whole family dressed casually in the picture. Despite their picture-perfect poses, the snap reportedly screams glum rather than good tidings, The Sun reported.
The expert told the outlet that the snap captured a "glaring tell" that might not be that noticeable at first glimpse. She described the picture as a "beautiful shot." However, she noted that the Duke of Cambridge tucking one hand into his trouser pocket and keeping a tight grip on his eldest son Prince George depicted a "desire to hide."
James claimed that Prince William looked distracted as he gazed into the distance. Meanwhile, his wife, Kate Middleton, and their kids looked directly at the camera.
"The direction of his gaze looks reflective or distracted. His smile also looks forced and is aimed at no one," James continued.
The body language expert speculated that the heir to the throne's mind may have been onto something else. He was probably preoccupied when the picture was taken.
Prince George Takes Over His Father Prince William's Role, Expert Claims
The Prince of Wales normally leads his family. However, James claimed that in the photo, his heir, 9-year-old Prince George, is taking over the role.
"He would always be the one motivating and leading the family group poses. Touchingly, it looks as though George has taken over that role from his father here," James said.
The expert said the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall outshined his dad and led his younger siblings and their dad along the path for the picture.
Prince William And Kate Middleton Show A 'United Family Team'
Prince William and Kate Middleton may have suppressed their feelings. Despite that, the family of five sent a clear message — they are a "united family team," the expert said.
"The casual denim/blue toning-but-not-matching outfits create a message of five individuals with strong personalities," she explained.
"There is also a sense of freedom about the pose, with its outdoor, relaxed setting and details like William's rather elderly and scuffed-looking trainers, flying in the face of his brother's narrative that he had to flee to the US to find his own 'freedom'."
James also compared the Waleses' Christmas card photo from King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla's. According to her, the new king and queen adopted a "regal profile", while the Waleses created a "feeling of direct communication."
