Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to be one of the happiest couples in the royal family. They dated for 10 years before the Prince of Wales finally proposed to his wife. This means that they had plenty of time to get to know each other.

Prince William Listened Intently To Kate Middleton's Stories

While speaking with People, Prince William and Kate Middleton's friend from the university revealed that the couple's chemistry was already palpable very early on.

"Whenever Kate was in the room, Will was obviously paying attention to her. When we'd be sitting at lunch in the dining hall and the two of them would be talking, it was amazing to see how natural it was, and how they had so much to say to each other. Looking back, there were all these small moments—certainly moments where I was like, 'Wow, this could really be something,'" Laura Warshauer said.

Prince William And Kate Middleton Planned Their Engagement For A Year

During the Prince and Princess of Wales' engagement in 2010, Prince William also revealed that he didn't keep his wife in the dark about his plans to propose to her. After all, they had already been talking about their plans for an entire year, and they just waited for the perfect time to seal the deal.

"It was just finding the right time. And that's what most people say about couples, it's all about timing. And I had my military career and I really wanted to concentrate on my flying and I couldn't have done this if I was still doing my training, so I've got that out of the way and Kate's in a good place in terms of work and where she wants to be and stuff, and we both just decided now was a really good time," he said.

Prince William Hopes His Marriage To Kate Middleton Will Be As Long As Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip's Union

During his appearance in a documentary for BBC, Prince William expressed his wish for his marriage to Middleton to last as long as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's union. The dad of three also revealed that he asked his grandmother what her secret to a happy marriage is.

"I'd love to know their secret, I think it's fantastic and I've regularly asked them both how they've managed it because they are the most lovely couple. I hope Catherine and I have the same sort of future ahead of us, where we can be as happily married as they are after 68 years," he said (via Hello! magazine).
