Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan have been streaming for nearly two weeks already. The program received mixed responses from the viewers and royal experts. One said that Prince Harry was isolating himself from his family.
Prince Harry Cutting Himself Off From Royal Family?
British journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's docuseries. In the second part, Markle and Prince Harry spoke about his strained relationship with his family. The Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors author felt that Prince Harry was the one cutting himself off from his family.
"I think he's just cutting himself off from it all. You know, he is turning himself into an outcast, and I don't think anyone's going to be looking to — to see if he's welcome here," Bower told Page Six. "And ... with her, she's finished now for sure. And he's on the verge of being finished."
He also speculated that Prince Harry's home country would not welcome him anymore after he attacked the institution and his family.
"I can't imagine they'll be welcome. I don't think Harry will ever be welcome back in England," Bower added.
Prince Harry's Attempt To Reconcile With His Family Is Unlikely To Succeed?
The royal expert weighed in on Prince Harry's effort to reconcile with his family. However, he also didn't think that it would work, given his wife's quest for "fame and fortune."
"His attempt at reconciliation is an attempt to get them to modify what they say to Netflix and [what] the book has got, and the reason is simply that Meghan is determined on fame and fortune and doesn't care two hoots about the royal family," Bower claimed. "They didn't give [Markle] what she wanted — i.e., fame and celebrity on her terms — so now she's going to turn this against them."
British journalist and broadcaster Dickie Arbiter, who served as Queen Elizabeth II's press spokesman from 1988 to 2000, also didn't think that reconciliation was possible at this point after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly rubbished the royal family.
"Look, reconciliation talks are very well. A lot of people are talking about reconciliation talks, but look what's happened over the two years," Arbiter said on Today.
"Harry and Meghan have rubbished the family. They've rubbished the United Kingdom, they've labeled the people of the United Kingdom racists, [and] they've had six hours on Netflix, which have constant, continued to rubbish the family. I don't see reconciliation coming about as a result of all that."
