Prince Harry and Prince William had shared a strong bond growing up. However, the Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex had a falling-out and have been estranged after Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, and a royal expert advised the Prince of Wales to take the higher road.
Prince Harry Is Angry During Queen Elizabeth's Funeral?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in the United Kingdom when Queen Elizabeth passed away on Sept. 8. The royal couple decided to extend their stay in his home country for the late monarch's funeral.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex mourned with the royal family during the funeral. They also made a joint appearance with the Prince and Princess of Wales outside Windsor Castle to greet the mourners. However, several sources claimed the royal siblings' relationship has remained strained.
Royal expert Dickie Arbiter weighed in on Prince Harry's gestures during the Queen's funeral. According to him, there was "anger" in his body language during the solemn ceremony.
"If you look at all the pictures that were published during the funeral, yes, it was a very solemn occasion and solemnity was the order of the day," Arbiter told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat, Express reported. "But Harry wasn't only showing solemnity, he was showing anger. That was his body language."
Prince Harry also received intense backlash after a viral video showed him not singing the God Save the King anthem during the funeral. Royal watchers, including UK veteran Mike Murphy, wasn't impressed with Prince Harry not singing the anthem and deemed it as a disrespect to his father in a series of tweets.
"@SkyNews Prince Harry didn't sing the National Anthem to his father. Total, utter, disrespect for his father, the nation, the Crown and the monarch that pays him. Strip him of all of his royal titles and funding. How much will NETFLIX want him then," he tweeted.
Several netizens felt the same way.
"He couldn't be anymore disrespectful if he tried," one royal watcher tweeted. Another noted how it must be "terribly awkward when the king is your dad and you're sitting right behind him."
Prince William Should Take The Higher Road
The discussion turned to Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship. Duncan Larcombe, former royal editor of The Sun, commented on the feud between King Charles' son and advised Kate Middleton's husband to take action, so they could reconcile.
"He has just become the Prince of Wales, he is going to be our King. It doesn't look good for him if he can't sort out the issues with his brother," Larcombe said, per Express. "He wants a leadership role, William wants to wear the medals and the stuff on his shoulders - be a leader."
He added that the royal family is being likened to the Kardashians due to Prince Harry and Markle's behavior. The royal couple, who are now based in California, has been followed by Netflix and are "selling out their royal brand to the highest bidder," the expert added. Despite that, Larcombe urged the new Prince of Wales to show how it is to be a true leader.
"That doesn't mean it's William's fault but, for goodness sake William, the onus is not on Harry," Larcombe said.
