Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy once dated each other for a couple of years before they ultimately decided to call it quits. After their separation, Davy revealed that one of the main reasons for their split was that she couldn’t cope with the demands of her then-boyfriend’s life as a royal.
In Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, he went into detail about his past relationship with Chelsy Davy. He revealed how he struggled to see his ex-girlfriend at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding in 2011. After all, they had just ended their relationship months earlier, and he had not moved on completely.

Prince Harry also revealed that he felt pangs of jealousy at the sight of Davy being surrounded by other men at Prince William and Middleton’s wedding reception.
“It was hard seeing Chels at Willy’s wedding. There were loads of feelings still there, feelings I’d suppressed, feelings I hadn’t suspected. I also felt a certain way about the hungry-looking men trailing after her, circling her, nagging her to dance. Jealousy got the better of me that night, and I told her so, which made me feel worse. And a bit pathetic. I needed to move on, meet someone new,” he wrote.
According to Prince Harry, Prince William asked him if it was OK for him to invite Davy to his and Middleton’s wedding because he didn’t want his younger brother to feel awkward. He and Davy both said yes, that’s why they reunited there.

Prince Harry Reveals Chelsy Davy Didn’t Seem Concerned About His Royal Status At First
Also, in Spare, Prince Harry detailed some of his first few meetings with Davy and shared all the things that he loved about her.
“Unlike so many people I knew, she seemed wholly unconcerned with appearances, with propriety, with royalty. Unlike so many girls I met, she wasn’t visibly fitting herself for a crown the moment she shook my hand. She seemed immune to that common affliction sometimes called throne syndrome. I’d always wanted to know what it might be like to meet a woman and not have her eyes widen at the mention of my title but instead widen them myself, using my mind, and my heart. With Chelsy, that seemed a real possibility. Not only was she uninterested in my title, but she also seemed bored by it. ‘Oh, you’re a prince? Yawn,’” he wrote (via Cosmopolitan).
Chelsy Davy Previously Complained About Not Being Seen By Prince Harry
Prince Harry also shared one conversation with Davy when the latter told him that she didn’t feel seen. After all, the Duke of Sussex was very focused on his military career.
“She knew I cared about her. But she felt unseen. I am not visual. She knew how desperate I was to go to war. How could she not forgive my being a bit detached? I was taken aback,” Prince Harry wrote.
Today, Prince Harry and Davy are still good friends. And the latter was also present at Prince Harry and Markle’s royal wedding in 2018.
