Prince Harry is facing criticism due to his refusal to attend Prince Philip’s memorial service at Westminster Abbey. Even though the somber event is already over, some experts are still lambasting the Duke of Sussex for not doing anything at all.
Royal Photographer Questions Prince Harry’s Decision To Stay Mum About Prince Philip’s Memorial
During a recent interview, royal photographer Arthur Edwards questioned Prince Harry’s decision to not even release a statement about his grandfather. Royal fans and experts already knew beforehand that he wouldn’t be attending the memorial service but some were hoping to hear from him on Tuesday.
However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stayed silent throughout the entire day. And this upset Edwards. He said that Prince Harry should’ve attended the memorial service even without his wife in tow.
The royal photographer also accused Prince Harry of using his issues with the Home Office as an excuse as to why he doesn’t want to return to the United Kingdom.
“The security here is incredible, I can't tell you. He should be here,” he said (via Express).
When asked if he thinks Prince Andrew should’ve been at Prince Philip’s memorial service, Edwards said yes. After all, he’s on the list and the Duke of York also served as Queen Elizabeth’s escort.

Royal Expert Hopes Prince Harry Would Realize His Mistakes
Other than Edwards, Prince Philip’s former protection officer, Richard Griffin, also criticized the Duke of Sussex. While speaking with The Sun, Griffin said that he hopes Prince Harry would realize things quickly.
“Prince Philip was their grandfather so William has obviously had great training from him and is going to learn examples from him. I just hope Harry gets some of these things in his mind. It [Harry not being here] was a big disappointment for everybody. People were talking about it. Certainly around where I was people were saying he should have been here. All this nonsense about how he couldn’t get protection, as far as I’m concerned was a pathetic excuse. He should’ve been here to honor his grandfather. At the end of the day, if he was that worried about security, he could’ve stuck with his brother and father who have got wonderful security and he would have been more than safe,” Griffin said.
Prince Harry Full Of Resentment
Royal biographer Angela Levin also wondered when Prince Harry would realize his appalling behavior, especially since he was the only major royal figure that skipped Prince Philip’s memorial. Even Prince William and Kate Middleton’s two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were there.
“He is such a changed person, it is difficult to know if he will even regret not attending. The Harry I interviewed was caring and kind and instinctive. Nowadays, he is so full of resentment and me, me, me. He doesn't seem to have any broader range to care about things unless they are things impacting him and Meghan. Many royals from abroad made the effort, yet Harry's pathetic excuse is that he didn’t feel safe. The police would have had it completely covered. The royal children were all there, the heirs to the throne, so it just doesn’t make any sense that the protection wouldn’t be there,” Levin said.
Some royal fans also expressed their disappointment toward Prince Harry. One of them questioned why the Duke of Sussex could travel to The Netherlands without any issue, but can’t set foot in the United Kingdom.
Another royal fan that waited outside Westminster Abbey said that she managed to attend Prince Philip’s memorial service, unlike the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
