Why Didn't Oprah Winfrey Invite Prince Harry, Meghan Markle To Her Birthday Bash?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were noticeably absent at Oprah Winfrey's 69th birthday Sunday. Several celebrities were present at the party, including Kim Kardashian, Sharon Stone, Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez.

Spectator columnist Kara Kennedy shared her thoughts about the Sussexes' absence. According to her, Winfrey may have shunned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle nearly two years after their interview for a CBS special.

She speculated that it was due to Prince Harry's interviews ahead of the release of his memoir Spare.

"It's easy to see why Oprah wouldn't want the pair at her birthday shindig after Harry's latest revelations. During his press tour for the duke's memoir, Spare, nearly three years on from that bombshell interview with Oprah, he made her look stupid," she wrote, per Express.

In Prince Harry and Markle's interview in 2021, they mentioned a member of the royal family raising concern over their unborn child's skin color. The remark sparked allegations that the members of the royal family were racist.

However, Prince Harry said in his ITV interview that they never said the royal family or a specific member was racist. Many felt that his remarks were in contrast to what his wife previously said in the interview.

Hollywood Celebrities Keeping Themselves Away From Prince Harry, Meghan Markle?

Kennedy quoted an anonymous Hollywood insider who told her that the celebrities didn't want to get near the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for fear that their private lives would be exposed.

"The Sussexes equal drama. Everybody over here is starting to realize that they never intended on having a quiet life," the insider said.

The tipster claimed that the celebrities couldn't risk having the royal couple around "never know[ing] where details of their private lives might end up."

The statement came after Prince Harry dropped his memoir Spare. In his book, he shared several intimate secrets with the royal family, including Prince William allegedly attacking him, King Charles reportedly leaking stories to the press, and Kate Middleton grimacing after Markle borrowed her lip gloss.
