Prince Harry Heartbroken After Queen Elizabeth’s Initials Were Removed From His Military Uniform

However, a friend of Prince Harry’s told Radar Online that he was heartbroken over the decision to have Queen Elizabeth’s initials removed from his military uniform. What’s worse is that Prince Andrew was allowed to keep his, so the decision felt intentional for the Duke of Sussex.

No reason was given as to why the queen’s initials were removed from Prince Harry’s uniform but not from Prince Andrew’s. It’s possible that the latter was allowed to keep the queen’s initials because he is the son of Queen Elizabeth.

Reports revealed that the royal cypher, also the queen’s initials, is typically worn by those who are in service of the current monarch. But even if this is the case, the decision still reportedly left the Duke of Sussex feeling devastated.

Prince Harry Wasn’t Supposed To Wear His Military Uniform In The First Place

However, Prince Harry wasn’t even supposed to wear his military uniform in the first place. In fact, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex previously confirmed this and said that his service in the military isn’t defined by the uniform that he wears.

“[Prince Harry] will wear a morning suit throughout events honoring his grandmother. His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully ask that focus remains on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” the statement read.

However, changes were made following King Charles’ request. That’s why Prince Harry and Prince Harry were allowed to wear their military uniforms while walking behind the queen’s coffin.

But the Duke of Sussex was not allowed to wear his military uniform once again during the queen’s funeral. And this may be due to the fact that he no longer works as a senior royal.

Prince Harry Lost His Military Appointments After He Quit The Firm

When Prince Harry announced his and Markle’s decision to quit The Firm, a decision also had to be made regarding his military appointments.

“As a retired serviceman, Harry would always be able to wear his medals, but no longer could he wear uniform as Captain General of the Royal Marines, Honorary Air Force Commandant of the Royal Air Force Base Honington, and honorary Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Navy’s Small Ships and Diving Operations. [It’s been] a tough pill to swallow and the one that has been most painful to Meghan to witness him go through. It’s the one that made Harry emotional,” royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in Finding Freedom (via Us Weekly).

As for Prince Andrew, he was not allowed to wear his military uniform for the most part because he had already stepped down from his royal duties.
