Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship is preservable depending on who the former marries. Had the Duke of Sussex married someone like his sister-in-law Kate Middleton, instead of Meghan Markle, Prince Charles and Princess Diana's sons would have enjoyed a better bond at present, according to a royal biographer.
Prince Harry Allegedly Determines Relationship With Prince William
Prince William and Prince Harry were very close growing up. They maintained their tight bond even after the Duke of Cambridge married Kate Middleton.
The three royals were even inseparable that they were dubbed "the royal trio." There was also a time Prince Harry was called his brother and sister-in-law's third wheel.
However, things changed when Prince Harry met and married Meghan Markle. Initially, royal fans thought that the royal trio would become fab four, but Princess Diana and Prince Charles' sons decided to have separate households.
Tina Brown weighed in on Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship when she discussed her new book, The Palace Papers. According to her, the two princes would have had a better relationship had Prince Harry looked for a bride similar to Prince William's wife, Middleton.
"It all depended on who Harry married. If Harry married somebody like Kate, I’m quite sure their relationship would have been preservable," Brown told Marie Claire.
"But he’s pursued such a different course now from William, going off to live an essentially Hollywood life...Meghan showed him another world that he found much more exciting. I understand it, but it’s been very disruptive to their relationship."
Prince Harry And Prince William's Relationship Strained Due to Unsolicited Advice About Meghan Markle Romance
Princess Diana and Prince Charles' two sons got each other's back. They were each other's support growing up. However, Prince Harry was very disappointed when his older brother advised him to slow down with his romance with Meghan Markle.
To be fair to Prince William, he had no bad intentions and only wanted what was best for his younger brother based on how he felt at the time. The Duke of Cambridge, himself, took his time before he proposed to Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge waited for a decade, that many mocked and called her "Waity Katie" due to the long wait for Prince William's proposal.
So, Prince William only shared with his brother how he approached relationships and marriage. Unfortunately, Prince Harry didn't take it well.
"It was largely down to Harry resenting his brother," the author of "Harry: Life, Loss, and Love" said on Channel 5’s William & Harry: Princes at War. "Harry supported his brother from the outset with Kate and he felt very let down that he wasn’t getting his brother’s full, 100% support with his relationship with Meghan and things changed."
At present, the two brothers are rumored to be still at odds. When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the Queen and Prince Charles in the U.K. last month before they headed to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games, they didn't get to see the Cambridges as the family was on a ski trip in the French Alps at the time.
