Royal Author Claims Prince Harry Flew Into A Rage After Meghan Markle's Request Was Denied By Queen Elizabeth

In the book Battle of Brothers: William & Harry, royal author Robert Lacey claimed that Prince Harry flew into a rage after Queen Elizabeth denied his wife's request to wear the particular headpiece. However, the late monarch reportedly did not grant Meghan Markle's request because of the sensitive origin of the tiara.

"Unconfirmed by the palace - but not denied - we were told that the Queen felt that she had to say 'no' to Meghan's first choice, a beautiful emerald headdress that was said to have come from Russia. This was code for a sensitive origin, meaning that the treasure was one of those that had found its way into Windsor's hands through 'undefined,' not to say dodgy channels - and for an undisclosed price - in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution," Lacey wrote (via Now to Love).

A royal insider also told Lacey in his book that there was scandal attached to the emerald tiara, that's why it was seldom put on display.

"It would suit neither the palace nor Meghan herself that spring if newspapers started speculating about which Tsarist princess had worn the tiara and how she had been assassinated," Lacey wrote.

In his book, the royal author also claimed that Prince Harry's reaction to the queen's decision could've been borne from his ignorance.

"Unfortunately, Harry's ignorance of both history and family tradition meant that he had no understanding of this subtlety," he wrote.

Meghan Markle Asked Prince Harry To Help Her Choose Her Wedding Tiara

In 2018, Markle revealed that the queen invited her to choose a tiara that she wanted to wear to her royal wedding, and she asked Prince Harry to accompany her.

"Harry and I had gone to Buckingham Palace to meet with Her Majesty The Queen to select one of the options that were there, which was an incredibly surreal day as you can imagine," Markle said (via People).

Prince Harry also opened up about the experience of helping Markle choose a wedding tiara.

"[It's] every girl's dream to be able to try on a tiara and funnily enough, [that was] the one that suited the best, I shouldn't have really even been there, but [it was] such an incredible loan by my grandmother, it was very sweet," he said.
