Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's six-part documentary on Netflix, Harry & Meghan, debuted earlier this month. The royal couple caused a stir following their complaints in the show, but one royal expert claimed it was the Duke of Sussex who betrayed his family.
Prince Harry Accused Of Betraying The Royal Family And His Country
Earlier this year, Netflix dropped the first promo of Harry & Meghan. British journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower reacted after watching the trailer and said in an article for The Sun that he betrayed his family and country for money.
"PRINCE Harry now stands accused of being nothing less than a traitor," Bower wrote. "Few could have imagined that a member of the Royal Family, beloved by millions, would betray his father, the Army and his country for a fistful of dollars."
He added that none doubt the venture was driven by his wife, Meghan Markle. Bower called Prince Harry a "compliant husband" to the former Suits actress.
"Nurtured in Hollywood, she has imposed her “narrative” on Harry. A compliant husband," Bower added. "The Netflix series is her latest vehicle to wreak damage on the Royal Family and Britain."
Bower speculated that Prince Harry and Markle were trying to take their revenge on the royal family for not getting what they wanted. He believed that they wanted to be popular, but they were down the line of succession and would never outrank King Charles or Prince William.
"Like a Hollywood Godfather, the Montecito Sussexes seem poised to extract their revenge for denying them the celebrity and status they craved," Bower claimed.
He also claimed that the royal couple was not only ruining the family, the were also allegedly damaging his country's reputation.
"The Sussexes’ venom will spread across the world, damaging not only the Royal Family but Britain’s reputation," Bower added.
He criticized the couple for leaving Britain for privacy only to allegedly sell their souls with "breathless vulgarity" to Netflix, Spotify and magazines.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Harry & Meghan Was Reportedly A Destructive Act Of Revenge
Royal expert and commentator Richard Fitzwilliams seemingly echoed Bower's allegation that the show was an attack on the royal family. For Fitzwilliams, Harry & Meghan, was a "destructive attack" on the royal family and an "amazing act of revenge."
"This is a full frontal, extremely destructive attack on the Royal Family - the institution as well as individual households and members of those households. This series I suspect will greatly weaken the royals in the eyes of the world, especially among young people," he told MailOnline.
"There is no doubt that this Netflix series is an amazing act of revenge designed to weaken the very institution that William will inherit as future King."
Prince Harry's biographer, Angela Levin, also shared the same sentiment. She told The Sun that the royal couple was "all out to destroy the monarchy and everybody on it."
"Perhaps with the aim of becoming King and Queen themselves - it's never going to happen, it's a fairy tale," the Harry: A Biography of a Prince author added, suggesting that the Sussexes wanted to be the leader of the monarchy.
