Prince Charles and Prince Harry have not spoken since their last "awkward" meeting. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Queen Elizabeth last week before heading to New Zealand for the Invictus Games. However, the father and son's meeting was brief it didn't turn out so well at least on the heir apparent's end.
Prince Charles And Prince Harry's Meeting Was Cordial But Awkward
Prince Harry skipped Prince Philip's memorial service but expressed his intention to visit the Queen soon. Prince William's younger brother indeed visited the Queen and also met his father.
An unnamed source told Mirror that Prince Charles and Prince Harry's meeting on Maundy Thursday was "cordial but slightly awkward" and it only lasted 15 minutes.
"Harry loved seeing his grandmother again and he is acutely aware of her advancing years," a source said. "He is desperate for Lily to meet her great-grandmother and for Archie to see her again now he is likely to enjoy and remember the event."
Royal correspondent and author Angela Levin was also not convinced that Prince Harry's visit was to extend an olive branch. According to the Harry: Biography of a Prince author, Prince Harr arrived late and was only stayed for a few minutes.
"First of all, Harry arrived late. What was he doing beforehand? He couldn't have been that busy," Levin wrote in The Sun. "And secondly, he was only there for about 10 minutes."
Levin speculated that the meeting which was supposed to be an "olive branch" was "another publicity stunt" for the Sussexes "trying to garner more public sympathy."
Prince Charles At A Loss Over Prince Harry's Behavior
Prince Charles hasn't spoken to Prince Harry following their encounter last week and things may have worsened after the latter made a snide remark against the members of the royal family.
In an interview with Today's Hoda Kotb, Meghan Markle's husband spoke about his relationship with his grandmother. However, his statements raised some eyebrows because he seemed to imply that the Queen is not safe or comfortable with the people around her.
"We have a really special relationship. We talk about things that she can’t talk about with anybody else," Prince Harry said.

"She's always got such a great sense of humour with me and I'm just making sure she's protected and got the right people around her," he added.
The insider said Prince Charles was at a loss about his son's behavior referring to Prince Harry's latest comment. Levin also slammed Prince Harry for what he said during the interview.
"Harry's comment on US TV about him checking the Queen is protected is a gross insult to Prince Charles and William. He's underlined even more that he doesn't deserve to attend the Jubilee celebrations and be on the Balcony," Levin tweeted.
