It looks like Stan Lee's intellectual property made after Marvel has found a new home years after the comic book legend's passing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stan Lee's Pow! Entertainment has just recently struck a joint venture together with Global brand management company Genius Brands International to use the Marvel legend's intellectual property post-Marvel.
The details of the deal between the two companies were not detailed. However, Pow! Entertainment and Genius Brands plans to make use of the over 100 original creations that Stan Lee made after working for Marvel and create a "Stan Lee Universe."
We're not entirely sure whether this universe is going to be set on film medium or whether they'll be used in publication, however, it seems like both companies plan to turn Stan Lee's creations into a new cash cow. This new deal with Pow! Entertainment is going to make Genius Brands into the managing and controlling partner of this new universe.
According to Genius Brands chairman and CEO, tapping into Lee's unexploited intellectual property represents a major content development deal for his company and for Pow! Entertainment.
"It's almost impossible to conceive that one mind created all this wealth. The spinoffs alone defy the imagination. From animated television, to toys, apparel, video games, and every conceivable licensed product imaginable, Stan Lee characters populate the screens and retail shelves worldwide. There is no creator who has influenced pop culture and created more successful entertainment," Heyward said in a statement.
We wonder whether Pow! Entertainment and Genius Brands is going to make this Stan Lee universe into a success. Let's wait and see.
