Pokémon GO: Players Only Have One Chance To Catch Mew

Fans were ecstatic when Niantic announced new quests for Pokemon GO, making the mobile game feel more like an RPG like its predecessors. These new research tasks give players a number of interesting rewards, including having specific Pokemon spawn. Interestingly enough, these quests have some story and they all seem to be leading to Mew.

However, fans hoping for multiple chances to catch the 151st Pokemon are out of luck, as the Japanese Pokemon GO website claims that there is only one chance to catch him.

According to the site, there will be a Special Research quest that will lead players to a Mew. Professor Willow believes that Mew is looking for an excellent trainer and players are hoping it's them.

Translations for the site also revealed this:

Search for Mew "Special research" can be challenged once by each trainer.

Now to be fair, just because there's only one chance to catch the Pokemon doesn't mean it will be tough. Previous events let players catch Lugia with a 100% chance, so this might be the same for Mew. Considering how there's only one chance to do so, this has to be the case.

Pokemon GO can now be downloaded on iOS and Android.
