Jurassic World Gets Pokémon GO-style Mobile Game

If you thought Pokemon GO would be better if all the monsters were replaced by dinosaurs, fear not as Universal has the answer for you. The company has announced Jurassic World Alive, a new mobile game coming to iOS and Android this spring, with pre-registrations now available to those interested.

While it does have plenty of similarities to Pokemon GO, Jurassic World Alive has something that Niantic's game doesn't; the option to play at home.

Players that do want to leave the house and discover dinosaurs around the area can do so. According to Mashable, the game will have unique dinosaurs depending on the player's area and an in-game map that pinpoints the location of nearby dinos. However, those that want to play at home have just as many options.

At home, players can deploy in-game drones that will collect the DNA of these dinosaurs. The player can use the DNA to unlock the creature or play God and use it to make a hybrid dino, ala the first Jurassic World film. A great option for those that have wanted to flex their mad scientist muscle.

Like Pokemon GO, players can then battle their dinosaurs with other players, which should be fun. The game will launch with 100 of these creatures, with more being added via free updates. Here's hoping they learn from Pokemon GO's launch and add events right away, so players don't get bored quickly.

Jurassic World Alive has no definitive release date yet but will be out this spring. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set to release June 22, while Jurassic World 3 comes out on June 11, 2021.
