It's officially 2019 and fans everywhere are excited for what the new year entails, with plenty of awesome geek-related media coming out. Whether it's Avengers: Endgame, Resident Evil 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, or Shazam, there is just so much to look forward to. One movie coming out later this year is Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, which now has its first teaser trailer.
After some shots of the original premiere of Pokemon: The First Movie, we soon see Mewtwo in all of his CGI glory. Once that shot of Mewtwo's eye is established, we soon see the Psychic legendary flying through the clouds and eventually staring down the Pokemon he was based on; Mew. Both Pokemon are clearly CGI, though that may change when the actual movie comes out.
Unfortunately, the teaser doesn't show off the story so we don't know how Ash meets this Pokemon. It's going to be the third film in this new series that was started with I Choose You, so don't expect to see Brock or Misty unless they are reintroduced in this movie. Gary was also teased during the first movie so we could see him appear here, though the company will likely just make new characters.
Now that Ash has met Lugia and Ho-Oh, it's neat seeing them go back to the legendaries from Kanto. We might also get a new Pokemon since the last two movies gave us brand-new legendaries.
Pokemon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution comes out in July 2019.
