Pokemon GO continues to soar despite what some memes will tell you. It would be nice if GO was still that worldwide phenomenon it was when the game first launched but Niantic is still making money so there seem to be no problems. We've been getting a variety of events from the game, including a surprising One Piece crossover, and it looks like we're getting one that is based on the franchise's most popular antagonist; Team Rocket.
Apparently, fans have noticed a number of Pokestops that have been colored to look like Team Rocket and now, Niantic has confirmed that an event is coming. On the official Pokemon GO twitter, Professor Willow tells us about these colored Pokestops and we see them in much clearer definition; also there's a big fat R on top.
Team Rocket gear has been in Pokemon GO before but an event focused on them is going to be really interesting. Could fans actually take on AI Team Rocket members? Maybe some gyms will have Giovanni in them? It wouldn't be wise to have Team Rocket-themed Pokemon since they will mostly comprise of Ekans, Koffing, and Rattata.
If you haven't downloaded the game yet, Pokemon GO is available now on iOS and Android. The game is free of charge but it does have a number of in-app purchases.
