Pokemon GO Battle System Gets Major Overhaul With Brand-New Update

Pokemon GO is about to go through some major changes and we don't just mean that One Piece crossover. The game's cumbersome battle system has been reworked, as Niantic continues to make GO more mobile-friendly. It just might work and could even make battles in this game fun again since the catching used to outweigh the combat (some would say it still does).

Niantic released a short trailer showing some of the changes coming to the game. Rather than just mindless tapping and the occasional charge, fans will now use rhythm-based swiping for some attacks. This should make the occasional tapping feel less annoying now that there is an alternative and its one fans have been waiting too long for.

Here's the official statement from Niantic:

Trainers, two feature revamps are coming to Pokémon GO! We are rolling out an updated appraisal system to give you more detailed information on your Pokémon's stats, and will soon be updating the Charged Attack mechanic in Trainer Battles.

We're going to have to wait and see how fans react to this, though it's mostly positive thus far. The fact that Niantic is still fixing gameplay mechanics like this shows that Pokemon GO is here to stay and isn't the fad some made it out to be. Now if only the world was united in playing it again.

Pokemon GO is now available for download on iOS and Android.
