Pokemon GO: Niantic is Hoping to Add PVP This Year

When Pokemon GO was first announced, one thing fans were excited to do was battle their friends with the Pokemon they caught. Despite being shown in trailers, the game did not launch with this feature and has yet to be added two years later. That doesn't mean Niantic hasn't improved the game, adding more goal-oriented gameplay mechanics and trading, another features fans waited a long time for.

It turns out that Niantic wants to add PVP to the game as well, and if the company's head of product marketing Anne Beuttenmüller gets her way, we'd be getting the mode by the end of the year.

During an interview with Polish publication Gram, Beuttenmuller revealed that the company is currently working on the heavily-requested PVP mode. However, she also stated that they are also working on improving the game's trading mechanics, which isn't a bad thing. Fans have wanted both features in the mobile game for a long time so the fact that we have one of them already shows that patience is a virtue.

"Now we are working on the PvP mode, which will soon appear. In addition, we're still working on improving the feature that has just made its debut – it's all about friends, such as the ability to exchange Pokemon in the game...
We are constantly improving the elements that we have available in the game and the next thing that we want to add at the end of this year is the PvP mode."

Granted, many will say adding PVP to Pokemon GO is too late since the title has lost a lot of momentum since its debut. However, the game does still make a ton of in-game currency, so that means people are still playing the title. Fans can download the game now on iOS and Android for free.
