When trading was introduced to Pokemon GO fans were happy, though some felt that it was too little too late. Granted, the free-to-play mobile game still makes a ton of money so it's not exactly unpopular but the game isn't as big as it was during its launch. However, long-time players have a reason to trade with their friends; to get Lucky Pokemon.
According to Niantic, Lucky Pokemon are special variations of these monsters that take less Stardust to power up, meaning that they can reach a higher CP faster than other Pokemon. It turns out that Pokemon acquired by trade have a high chance of being Lucky Pokemon, especially if they were in a trainer's storage for a long time.
Considering how Stardust is a valuable resource in Pokemon GO, this new feature might be seen as a blessing to players. It also gives some incentives to trade since the game doesn't have version-exclusive Pokemon like the mainline games. This could end up being a positive move and should make the game a bit more fun and/or unpredictable.
The only thing players want now are PvP battles, which still aren't a thing. Considering all the changes made to the game over two years, we might get this sooner or later.
Pokemon GO is available now on iOS and Android devices.
