Pokemon Go May Have a Huge Summer Event

The newest event for Pokemon Go has just kicked off over the weekend, and yet it seems that developer Niantic Labs is up and ready for the next one.

While all kinds of speculations as on what new features are planned for the future of the mobile game, a new interview with Niantic's execs (via Android Authority) revealed that they are already hard at work on the next upcoming add-ons.

"I hope you are looking forward to this huge event this summer. Please look forward to it. Engineers are working hard now so that new functions can be implemented."

This doesn't really reveal much in terms of specifics, but it does hint at two things. One, the summer event is something that seems to be bigger than the previously held ones. The latest one for Easter doesn't really seem much—lacking a lot in creativity, considering the dead giveaway of Eggs involved in the holiday. So, if Niantic Labs is looking to give its remaining Pokemon Go players a bang, then a summer big bash would be the perfect timing.

The second is that engineers are being involved in what could be the latest update. This means potential major changes, instead of mechanics-related ones. Among the biggest features expected to arrive are raids, PvP battles, trading, and even the Legendary Pokemon.

For now, consider this as speculation. But given the name drop of engineers, I'm looking forward to it a little better than the other events.
