In her interview on The View via GamesRadar, Banks revealed what inspired them to create a TV adaptation of the musical movie.

Surely, a lot were surprised that the inspiration to do the reboot came from the series Loki instead of several hit musicals today.

"Honestly, we were a little inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Loki show,” she said. “They took a villain [played by Tom Hiddleston] from Marvel, and they gave him a television show, a whole backstory.”

From there, they got the idea to do the same with Bumper.

The studio even had the chance to tell new stories while still honoring what came before it.

Bumper, alternatively, is a likable character who has very unlikable humor. So, it remains to be seen how Banks and the rest of the cast and crew make him a relatable character after seeing him in the movie series.
