Penny Dreadful Gets Spinoff Series City Of Angels, Poster Revealed

Fans will finally get what they have been asking for since the Penny Dreadful cancellation. The Showtime series is getting a new spinoff show called City of Angels.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, creator John Logan will return to helm the new show. Logan will collaborate with Michael Aguilar on what is being called a "spiritual descendant" of the beloved Victorian-era series.

City of Angels will take place in Los Angeles in 1938 and the story will follow "a time and place deeply infused with Mexican-American folklore and social tension." Check out the amazing poster below.

Logan confirmed that the series will feature new characters.

"Penny Dreadful: City of Angels will have a social consciousness and historical awareness that we chose not to explore in the Penny Dreadful London storylines. We will now be grappling with specific historical and real-world political, religious, social and racial issues. In 1938, Los Angeles was facing some hard questions about its future and its soul. Our characters must do the same. There are no easy answers. There are only powerful questions and arresting moral challenges. As always in the world of Penny Dreadful, there are no heroes or villains in this world, only protagonists and antagonists; complicated and conflicted characters living on the fulcrum of moral choice," Logan said in a statement.

Unfortunately, this would mean that we won't see Eva Green return as Vanessa Ives. We probably shouldn't expect to see Josh Hartnett as well yet it sounds like City of Angels will stay true to the Penny Dreadful spirit.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has not yet been given an official release date.
