Pedro Pascal Knew Star Wars Fans Would Fall in Love with Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian

There is little doubt that people immediately fell for Baby Yoda when it was introduced in the premiere episode of The Mandalorian. However, Pedro Pascal claims he never doubted that Star Wars fans would instantly fall in love with his tiny co-star.

Pascal recently spoke to Yahoo! Movies about working on The Mandalorian and he was asked if the cast and crew had anticipated the fan reaction to The Child. Interestingly, the former Game of Thrones actor stated that although they had expected a positive response, he claimed that he knew the world would be completely smitten with Baby Yoda.

"I did. I can't bring myself to lie and be like 'we had no idea of the sensation that he would be,'" Pascal said. "We never talked about it being a sure thing, but I unconsciously kept to myself that the very first time I saw the image in the illustration during that first meeting, I was like 'Oh my God, people are going to lose their mind over that.' So basically it was no surprise."

It's easy to understand why Pascal was confident about Baby Yoda's effect on Star Wars fans. After all, nobody expected to see a younger version of Yoda in the series. Nevertheless, it was a welcome surprise and The Child has since become the most popular Star Wars character to date.
