Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Sets Up Maul's Appearance in Solo


If you've been tuning in to the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, there's a huge chance you already know that Darth Maul is the mastermind behind the growing criminal syndicate that threatens the galaxy. Of course, we already know that thanks to Solo: A Star Wars Story but the latest episode of the animated series made sure to remind us with a proper set-up.

In The Phantom Apprentice, Darth Maul calls for a conference with the Shadow Collective, which features just about every crime lord in the Star Wars Universe. Interestingly, we also discover that Prince Xizor of the Black Sun is one of these baddies that Maul is working with. In addition to that, we get a glimpse at Dryden Vos of Crimson Dawn.

Dryden was initially introduced in Solo as the crime lord who commissioned Tobias Beckett's team to steal a shipment of coaxium. In the film, it is later revealed that Dryden was actually working for Maul.

So what does this all mean? This confirms that Maul has been scheming even before the Empire took over the galaxy. In addition to that, he has been connected with Crimson Dawn for a long time. Now we just need to find out how he managed to maintain his control since the latest episode of The Clone Wars left him being captured by clone troopers.

The latest episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 is titled The Phantom Apprentice. It is currently streaming on Disney+.
