Peacemaker Star John Cena Praises GOTG Star Dave Bautista

Peacemaker star John Cena took to social media to celebrate 20 years since the start of Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista’s wrestling career. Both John Cena and Dave Bautista have gone on to become huge crossover stars, appearing on TV shows and movies outside of the world of wrestling, with John Cena joining the DC Films and Dave Bautista taking a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Some fans tried to assume that there was some bad blood between the actors in 2019 when Dave Bautista said that he would be disinclined to appear in projects with Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, or other former WWE stars. Cena wasn't having any of it and said that he also understood the feeling.

"20yrs ago, Dave Bautista began turning skeptics into believers," John Cena posted on Twitter. "Crafting a remarkable legacy in WWE, and continues to amaze with his incredible work as an actor. He's outspoken, honest, and one of the nicest, most giving people I've ever met. Happy 20 years from an OWV classmate. Cheers!"

One of the first responses to John Cena’s tweet was one of approval from Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn.

Now that John Cena and Dwayne Johnson are both in the Fast & Furious franchise, Cena was asked during a recent interview with Comicbook about the possibility of him and Johnson working together.

"Well, I am definitely not high in the decision-making ladder in that process, so I'm a dreamer just like you," Cena answered. "I would say that the things that I know are it was very captivating entertainment for over two years in WWE programming and usually what's entertaining is entertaining. I'd like to see it. Well, like I said, I'm pretty low on the decision-making ladder in that."

John Cena is set to start working on the second season of Peacemaker, with James Gunn writing and directing it. Gunn just recently wrapped production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which includes Dave Bautista in its ensemble. You can check out Peacemaker’s first season on HBO Max, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 on Disney+.
