Peacemaker: Justice League Cameo Scene Originally Had Batman and Cyborg

The first season finale of Peacemaker broke the internet as they managed to have the Justice League show up for a cameo appearance, especially Jason Momoa's Aquaman and Ezra Miller's The Flash who both physically appeared. The other two members, Superman and Wonder Woman, only showed up in a silhouette with no speaking line. However, there are a lot of fans who are wondering about the absence of Batman and Cyborg which James Gunn explained it has something to do with "future stuff." Now, it appears that they were originally going to appear as well in the scene.

Actor Matt Turner posted on Instagram a photo of him in costume as Batman in front of a mirror. He revealed in his caption that Batman and Cyborg were cut from the final cut of the Peacemaker season finale, indicating that he was also on the set filming his part as the stand-in of the Caped Crusader.

"After that epic #peacemaker finale I can finally post this. Sadly I(& Cyborg) were cut from the final edit. Why? Only @jamesgunn & @warnerbrosentertainment know that," Turner wrote in his caption. "While it's disappointing to be scrubbed out, this was still a blast, and a dream come true to wear the suit!!! Big thanks to everyone involved!!" You can view his post below:

This revelation is a game-changer as it confirms that Gunn originally had Batman and Cyborg when they were filming the cameo appearance of the Justice League. It appears that Warner Bros. and DC asked the director to cut the two characters out of the scene and only have the four show up.

We don't have the official word from the studios about why they wanted the two characters out of the scene besides the "future stuff" that Gunn said in a recent interview. A safe guess right now is that Batman is set to appear in two films later this year and they don't want to oversaturate the character while also the DCEU's iteration of the character has a huge question mark right now given the possible Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton swap on The Flash. As for Cyborg, it is likely that it's because of the issues right now between the studio and Ray Fisher, who played him in the films.

But either way, even with the absence of the two characters, the Justice League cameo was still a great jaw-dropping surprise and it's also awesome to see them again almost a year after Zack Snyder's Justice League. It's also very impressive that Gunn was able to pull it off and do it effectively without making it look like a cheap trick. It would be interesting to see if the Justice League cameo means something about the future of the DCEU which we will find out very soon.
