Ray Fisher Addresses Justice League On-Set Racism Allegations

Ray Fisher has once again spoken up and revealed new details shared new details about the racism allegations made against Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, and Toby Emmerich which occurred during the Joss Whedon reshoots for Justice League.

Fisher has once praised Joss Whedon but In June 2020, he retracted the praise he gave to the director. Later on, he tweeted that Whedon's on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.

In the same tweet, Fisher also called out former DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and former DC Films executive Jon Berg. He called the two Whedon's enablers. He doubled down on these allegations in July. He stated that speaking out will have personal and professional risks where he said, "I understand full well the [personal] and professional risks associated with my speaking out against the abhorrent behavior of Joss Whedon and his enablers — Geoff Johns and Jon Berg."

Weeks after later, Warner Bros. launched an investigation into Fisher's claims. However, the studio announced that Fisher wasn't cooperating with the investigator they hired. The studio also denied Fisher's allegations that DC Films President Walter Hamada asked Fisher to stop his accusations on Johns and focus solely on Berg and Whedon. In response, Fisher asked Warner Media, the parent company to hold a third-party investigation. That investigation concluded in early December 2020, with WarnerMedia stating that "remedial action" had been taken.

However, things escalated again after reports came out that Fisher will not appear as Cyborg in the upcoming The Flash movie. Fisher said he did not step down on anything but in another tweet, he said that he will not participate in any production associated with Hamada.

Regarding the racism allegations, Fisher said he wasn't conscious of the situation in the 2017 reshoots and only learned about it in the summer of 2020. However, he said that there ‘problematic requests' asking him to play Cyborg like Quasimodo and forcing him to reshoot a scene so they can highlight Cyborg's penis.

Fisher also said that Johns stated, "we can't have an angry Black man at the center of the movie." This allegedly prompted WB to reduce the roles of all persons of all characters of color.

As of the moment, Fisher is relentless and will continue to do so. That said, Zack Snyder's Justice League will be released on HBO Max on March 18.
