Paul Dano Teases The Riddler's Return in Matt Reeves' The Batman 2

It has been five months since Matt Reeves' The Batman dominated the box office, yet the latest caped crusader in the form of Robert Pattinson still remains at the top of every Batman fan's mind. Alongside the new Bruce Wayne, he was pitted against the brilliant yet sinister antagonist, The Riddler — played by Golden Globe nominee Paul Dano. Now that The Batman 2 was officially greenlit by Reeves and Warner Bros., is the Riddler willing to return?

According to a recent report from IGN, Paul Dano was present during last week's San Diego Comic-Con and discussed his possible return in Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel.

"I've been spending the past year writing this comic [Riddler: Year One] because I loved so much our film, Gotham, Batman, all of it - so you know, if they call me, I'll show up, yeah!” he said. “ It'd be pretty fun to get in there with another good actor like Barry."

The Batman's ending sequence guarantees that the Riddler's villainous pursuit isn't over yet. In one scene, the Riddler and Barry Keoghan's Joker were spotted interacting in Arkham Asylum, seemingly pointing at a future team-up to torment Gotham City along with Pattinson's Bruce Wayne. That said, we can absolutely expect Paul Dano to return in the next Bat-Verse projects.

Two spinoffs will follow The Batman and are headed to HBO Max, one involving Keoghan's Joker and Dano's Riddler in an Arkham Asylum storyline, while the other focuses on Gotham Police's Department with Colin Farrell's The Penguin set as the main villain. For now, Warner Bros. hasn't yet announced an official release window for The Batman 2.
