Star Trek fans won't have to worry about the future of Patrick Stewart's brand new series on CBS All Access because it looks like the network is planning multiple seasons for Captain Jean Luc-Picard's very own television show.
There was certainly a lot of Star Trek news coming from this year's New York Comic Con, and after the convention's panel for CBS All Acess' Star Trek Discovery, franchise executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin talk about the upcoming Picard series with Trek Movie.
During the interview, the executive producers revealed that CBS is planning to make its upcoming Picard television show an ongoing series, expect production on the project to begin in April while the writers are busy working on potential episode narratives for the upcoming show. Though Kurtzman and Kadin didn't give away any release date for Picard's show, some anticipate the series to premiere sometime in 2020 if it sticks to its April production schedule.
This is definitely good news for Star Trek fans. There was a lot of excitement when Stewart announced that he would be reprising his role as Picard in his very own Star Wars series from CBS All Access, and many were hoping for more details about the television show from this year's New York Comic Con. While Kurtzman and Kadin certainly try their best not to give too much away, this new report does tell fans that they're going to see a lot of Picard in the future now that CBS has multiple seasons ready for the USS Enterprise's former Captain.
Picard's Star Trek series doesn't have a release date yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
