Star Trek: Picard is making its big premiere this week, and while the brand new series has yet to complete its first season on CBS All Access it looks like Star Trek legend Sir Patrick Stewart wants to have Whoopi Goldberg in the next batch of episodes.
Stewart appeared on The View today to promote the premiere of Picard, and there he met with Goldberg, one of the main hosts of the daytime television program. During the interview, the Star Trek legend decided to give The View host a formal invitation from Alex Kurtzman, the showrunner of Picard, to join the second season of his brand new series.
"Something that I need to bring up. I'm here with a formal invitation - and it's for you, Whoopi. Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of 'Star Trek: Picard', and all of his colleagues (of which I am one), want to invite you into the second season," the Star Trek: The Next Generation actor said after what seemed like a heavy pause.
The crowd broke out into applause, and Goldberg couldn't help but give a delighted "Yes!" to Stewart's invitation.
For those who aren't familiar with Goldberg's role in Star Trek, the Sister Act star played a "Guinan" in The Next Generation. Gunian is an El-Aurian race of "Listeners" that live long and are endowed with psychic abilities. Goldberg's character was 600 years old and was a close confidant of Jean-Luc Picard.
Star Trek: Picard premieres on January 23, 2020.
