Park So Dam is still recovering after she was diagnosed with cancer, but her new project is already ready to show the fans her new role.
Fans of the Korean film industry were left shocked last month after multiple news outlets confirmed that Park So Dam had papillary thyroid cancer. Her agency, ArtistCompany, revealed that she was diagnosed following a regular health examination.
"The company would like to once again thank all the people for showing support for Special Delivery and actress Park So Dam, as well as the actors and crew of Special Delivery overcoming this difficult time together," the agency said.
At that time, Park So Dam was said to be disappointed that she missed the movie's press tour. But amid her surgery and recovery, the actress's agency confirmed the arrival of her new project that would surely keep her spirits up.
Park So Dam is Back in Special Delivery
While Park So Dam still rests at home, Special Delivery director and stars recently shared what to expect from the upcoming film.
In this flick, the actress plays the role of a special delivery driver, Eun Ha, who finds herself in a middle of a gang war while protecting a child. Her character, who is a North Korean defector, eventually becomes the target of Song Sae Byeok's Kyung-Sik.
From being a soft character on Parasite, she becomes an action hero in the film who engages herself in countless car chases.
"Eun-ha learned fighting techniques in order to survive while working as a special delivery driver. So I thought it would be more convincing to showcase vivid and kinetic action sequences rather than stylish fight scenes," director Park Dae Min said, as quoted by The Korea Times.
The filmmaker added that they tried to have smooth footage of the car chase scenes to show how Park So Dam can control her vehicle.
