Painted Deadpool 2 Poster Pays Tribute to Deadpool's Debut

With Deadpool 2 coming out next month and featuring the movie debuts of Cable, Domino, and Shatterstar, as well as X-Force, it's a good time to be Rob Liefeld. The comic book creator had created the group and some of the characters, with Deadpool being his most popular creation, even if it was due to the fourth wall breaking he didn't implement but rolled with.

In honor of the film coming out, Rob Liefeld teamed up with Mike Caprotti for a Fandango-exclusive poster that pays tribute to New Mutants #98, the first appearance of Deadpool.

The poster is less busy than the original comic book cover, only featuring four characters instead of the previous seven. Still, it does have Deadpool in his debut pose and Colossus substituting Gideon, making for a pretty cool poster. Domino is also in her debut pose, while Cable is a floating head that doesn't really look like his original appearance on the cover.

Seeing comic book movies honor their source material like this is always good fun and it is nice seeing Rob Liefeld get some credit. He may not be the best artist in the world but he did introduce these characters to Marvel Comics, all of whom have appeared in very good stories in recent years.

Deadpool 2 comes out on May 18.
