Pacific Rim: Uprising Star Joins Cassian Andor Series in Lead Role

While the series has faced multiple delays, things look to be getting back to speed with Disney+'s Rogue One prequel focused on Cassian Andor. While multiple actors have been confirmed for the show, the series has found a new lead in the form of a Pacific Rim: Uprising Star.

According to Deadline, Adria Arjona (Good Omens) has been cast to star opposite Diego Luna in the Cassian Andor series. We don't have that much detail on her role yet, but it's been rumored that we're going to be seeing more of Cassian's family in this show, and it's possible that Arjona could be playing Cassian's sister.

It's funny that Arjona should be cast in the Rebellion Era of Star Wars, seeing as she co-starred in Pacific Rim with John Boyega who is a star of the Resistance Era. It would have been fun to see the two Jaeger pilots reunite onscreen, but I guess Lucasfilm would be careful not to get too meta with their property.

While the series had been delayed, things look to be moving forward with Tony Gilroy set to return to write the pilot and direct multiple episodes. Despite Gilroy being brought back, the status of showrunner still belongs to Stephen Schiff.

We don't have an official release date for Cassian Andor yet, but word had it that the series was expected to debut sometime in 2021 with Kenobi set to release the following year 2022. With COVID-19 pushing everything back though, fans are just waiting for an official update on Lucasfilm's part.

No release date has been set for Cassian Andor, but The Mandalorian is expected to return to Disney+ this October.
