The cast for the sequel Pacific Rim 2 is steadily growing. This time, two more names have been added to the list.
In an exclusive with Variety, it was revealed that Levi Meadan, known for his role in Aftermath, will be joining the cast. The Great Wall actress Jing Tian was also revealed to be part of the cast, though her role was not specified.
Other confirmed stars in the film include John Boyega (Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad, Fury), and singer and actress Cailee Spaeny, who will be playing the lead female role.
Steven S. DeKnight has been tagged to direct the sequel. DeKnight is known for his work in Netflix's Daredevil series. Guillermo del Toro, Thomas Tull, John Jashni, and Mary Parent have all been credited as producers, while Jon Spaihts is tasked to write the script.
The creators have yet to reveal the story for the sequel. However, it seems that it will have some direct relation to the original, since Boyega is set to pay the role of Stacker Pentecost's son. Pentecost was a PPDC Marshal who had died in battle.
Filming is slated to start in Australia sometime in November, with some shooting set for China. Pacific Rim 2 will be out in theaters on Feb. 23, 2018.
