Pachinko Creators Talk About Loss in Season 1 Finale

After the finale aired, the series creators shared a similar sentiment in an interview with Deadline.

In one part of the discussion, the news outlet asked Soo Hugh, Michael Ellenberg, and Theresa Kang-Lowe about the loss the finale showed. The trio talked about kimchi and how the sequence played a huge role in the series.

Per Soo Hugh, they cannot leave the characters broken after going through the worst. She also assured that their characters would always triumph. Meanwhile, Michael Ellenberg, the origin story, links up everyone in the drama.

“I think part of it is also when you’re thinking about what can Sunja do, what can a mother do, what can anyone do in that kind of a situation. I think it goes to the whole point of the show, which really it is about resilience and hope at the end of the day,” Theresa Kang-Lowe continued.

Pachinko will continue its story in the upcoming season 2 after AppleTV+ renewed it.
