The Christie family, the series' newest villains, were introduced in the Outlander Season 6 premiere. Because of Jamie's (Sam Heughan) standing offer to the former prisoners of Ardsmuir, Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones) brought his children Allan (Alexander Vlahos) and Malva (Jessica Reynolds) to Fraser's Ridgthat suggests something "huge" is on the way, and it includes yet another difficult character.

However, the Christies aren't the only issue at Fraser's Ridge. The crown is pressuring Jamie to take on the post of Indian Agent in the run-up to the Revolutionary War. This isn't a position he wants, so it's given to Richard Brown (Chris Larkin), the brother of the man who kidnapped and raped Claire (Caitriona Balfe) at the end of Season 5.

Brown and his "committee of safety" made an appearance at the Big House during the premiere, reminding viewers of how vicious he and his family can be. However, Heughan claims that what fans saw in the first episode is nothing compared to what's to come.

“The big one is the last two episodes, I think, when the Browns come into play,” Heughan told Parade.

Outlander Season 6: Jamie at Ardsmuir

The new season begins with a flashback to 1753, when Jamie was at Ardsmuir Prison, just before Lord John Grey (David Berry) became the facility's governor. Jamie's holier-than-thou Protestant Christian cellmate Tom Christie, who doesn't get along with the Jacobites because they're predominantly Catholic, is introduced here.

Jamie tries to stay away from Tom and the problems he causes. Things go off the rails as a brawl breaks out during a hard labor session and a young Jacobite is killed. Jamie tries to negotiate a truce, but it's evident that he doesn't want anything to do with Tom.

Returning to Fraser's Ridge in 1773, viewers watch Tom come with his children and a bunch of fishermen. While Jamie and Claire are away, he approaches the house, leaving Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) to welcome him in.

Because of Jamie's gift of land to Ardsmuir inmates, they welcome Tom and his gang. Jamie, however, never anticipated — or desired — Tom to show up.
