We’re a few days away from Outlander Season 6. The current Droughtlander is set to end in March 2020, after the Season 5 finale aired in May 2020. Fans will finally see the next chapter in Jamie and Claire Fraser's story, which brings up the question of when it will take place.
Outlander Season 6: Home is Where the Heart is
The official Starz network description of Outlander Season 6 focuses on the theme of "home," with Jamie and Claire continuing to struggle to safeguard people they care about, according to the network. During a period of "dramatic political upheaval," they continued to build and develop their house in "the wild back country of North Carolina."
The Starz description went on to say that Season 4 posed the question "What is home?" ", and Season 5 posed the question, "What are you willing to do to protect your home?" Outlander Season 6 will now reportedly address "What happens when there is disharmony and division among the inhabitants of the home you've created."
What happens "when you become an outsider, or an 'outlander,' as it were, marginalized and rejected in your own home?", according to the Outlander Season 6 summary.
What Year Does Outlander Season 6 Take Place?
Outlander Season 6 will be loosely based on Diana Gabaldon's sixth book in the series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
The story in Gabaldon's sixth book is set in the years leading up to the American Revolutionary War. Season 6 begins in 1772, just three years before "the shot heard round the world," yet the year of setting is most likely to be 1775. But either way, war is imminent.
“The long fuse of rebellion has already been lit. Men lie dead in the streets of Boston, and in the backwoods of North Carolina, isolated cabins burn in the forest,” the Random House book description reads.
“With chaos brewing, the governor calls upon Jamie Fraser to unite the backcountry and safeguard the colony for King and Crown.”
Jamie is aware that those who are loyal to the king are not on the right side of history because he knows the outcome of the war. Will he back the crown and end up murdered or exiled? Will he struggle for independence alongside the colonists, putting his home at Fraser's Ridge in jeopardy?
When to Watch Outlander Season 6
Outlander Season 6 will be a short one, with only eight episodes. Executive producer Maril Davis, however, has vowed that there would be something for everyone.
According to Parade, she said during a PaleyFest interview that book six is almost as good as the original Outlander novel, which she considers to be her favorite.
