(Chase Stokes) and Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) actors will be getting back together in real life, it's still unclear how the rest of the Pogues' story will progress as they search for treasure and solve more mysteries, but thanks to Rudy Pankow, who plays JJ, we now now that his character will have a "frustrating time" in Season 3.

Since Season 1, JJ's life just gets tougher. The young teen lives with an alcoholic father (Gary Weeks), who has a big gambling and drug addiction problem. JJ's father is also physically abusive towards him.

In Season 2, JJ's father ended up in prison, but Luke was able to escape then asks JJ for help escaping the island. As much as he doesn’t want to help his father, JJ knows that he might finally be free from his Luke's abuse. So, he finds a boat for his father, and they finally say farewell.

According to Pankow, JJ's life won't get much easier in Outer Banks Season 3 even though he's finally free from Luke (as far as we know). During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 23-year-old actor described JJ’s character arc as “a new depth.”

"A new depth is a good [description] as well, but JJ’s journey this season might be frustrating. I think it’ll be a frustrating time for JJ this season."

Pankow didn't elaborate what kind of obstacles JJ might face, but he explained how he puts himself into the proper headspace for the role.

“I have to put on headphones to get to that headspace where his father is very manipulative and abusive. So I really enjoy getting my mental space to that very uncomfortable place because there’s an honor and a responsibility to it that feels good,” he said.

Additionally, the Uncharted actor said that he admires JJ's loyalty even though he does things that bring him trouble.

“One of the first breakdowns that I read of JJ is that he’s loyal to a fault, and his fault is to himself. He doesn’t really know what he actually wants at times, so he does what his friends want and ask,” he continued. “But then he’ll do his own random things, and they’re his fault. So I’ve really enjoyed playing the 'loyal to a fault' aspect.”
