Netflix already renewed Outer Banks Season for a third season, but the breakup between leads Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes in November 2021 caused some major concerns and questions among fans of Netflix's teen mystery series.
Recent buzz on social media has led to increased speculation over whether Cline or Stokes could be leaving Outer Banks after Season 3, and whether the breakup would create tension for their characters Sarah Cameron and John B.
Rumors claiming that Cline is leaving the show have spread on social media in recent months, leading many fans to question about her future with the hit series. Speculation about Madelyn's future on the show comes shortly after she and her co-star Chase Stokes —who plays her on-screen lover John B— broke up after one year of dating.
While she initially remained silent, the 24-year-old actress recently released a statement that seems to have confirmed her future on Outer Banks.
Will Madelyn Cline still be in Outer Banks?
Yes, Cline just dispelled the rumors that Outer Banks Season 3 will be her last season, confirming that she will continue to return for as many episodes as the creative team will have her.
“So I’m getting asked if season 3 is my final season of OBX. I will come back for as many seasons as they will have me. I love my job and there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not grateful for it, and for everyone who has watched it,” said in a since-deleted Jan. 24 statement on Instagram, confirming that she has no intentions of leaving the series. Cline reminded fans in her closing that “Not everything on the internet is true.”
Cline is set to star in Rian Johnson's Knives Out 2, which is scheduled to release this year.
Outer Banks Season 2 became one of Netflix's most popular shows when it premiered on Netflix in July 2021, topping the streamer's charts in the U.S. and other countries. You can check all the details about Outer Banks Season 3 here.
