Oshi no Ko is coming back in just a few months, though Japanese fans will be in for a treat ahead of its TV premiere. That’s because Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 1 will be shown in cinemas in Japan this June via an advanced screening.
Along with the upcoming season, fans will also be treated to a theatrical run of what is arguably the anime’s best episode.
Oshi no Ko’s Iconic First Episode Is Returning to Cinemas
Over Oshi no Ko season 1's run during spring 2023, fans were treated to lots of memorable moments. It’s fair to say though that the feature-length premiere episode is still the best.
When Oshi no Ko first aired back in April 2023, many seasonal anime fans were shocked by the events of the opening episode.
Aside from setting up the story nicely, it still contains what is one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the series.
Thus, it’ll be a treat for many fans that Oshi no Ko episode 1 will return to select Japanese cinemas for two weeks, starting on June 7, 2024.
Return is the right word, as this first episode also got a limited theatrical release in Japan back in March 2023 – that was one month before the show was released globally.

Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 1 Advanced Screening Announced Ahead of TV Premiere
Then, later this June, Oshi no Ko season 2 will also be screened in select Japanese cinemas. This advanced screening will be for the first episode of season 2, and it will begin on June 30, 2024.
Currently, there’s no word yet on which theaters will screen the episode. It’s also not clear if the theatrical release means episode 1 will also be over an hour long.
If it’s only 20 minutes though, we may see something similar to the recent Demon Slayer World Tour where the Hashira Training Arc’s first episode was shown following the season 3 finale.

Is Oshi no Ko Season 2's Premiere Also Coming to US Cinemas? Our Predictions
For now, there’s no word yet on screening plans for Oshi no Ko season 2 in the US. As a theatrical release for the first episode didn’t happen in the US last year, we might not see season 2 get released in US cinemas.
If it does get a theatrical release, chances are that it will be just one show, likely during Anime Expo 2024, which will happen from July 5-8, 2024.
